Children's Lives
RC Jakarta Selatan is busy working with Sahabat Anak as they put their Matching Grant monies to good use. The Rotarians of RC Jakarta Selatan recently visited one of the Sahabat Anak locations (Tanah Abang) to take a look at how the location leaders of Sahabat Anak are working with the Jakarta area's Street Children. The pictures on this page take a look at the progress being made through the Matching Grant received by Sahabat Anak in December. Shabat Anak "study" house for the area's street children.
Left: Street children find the "study" house a safe and quiet place to learn and study. The street children and street teens are welcome to join in the weekly schedule of events, which includes library (reading class), computer class, and typing class. Or, they can come to the house to study and learn with their friends. |

Welcome to the RC Jakarta Selatan! Welcome to our website! Our focus for 2009-2010 is on health, children, youth, and education. To that end we have some very interesting projects that we are supporting in our mega-city of some 10+ million. Read more about our projects and more about our club. The reward of being a Rotarian in Jakarta is seeing firsthand where our club and our international sponsors' monies go. We see how far a single dollar can stretch. For example, for the cost of a Starbucks' coffee, I can buy enough eggs to give 1 a day to a child for an entire month. That may be the only protein that child gets. To our current sponsors, "Thank you for your support and for enabling us to make a difference in the lives of many." To our potential sponsors, "We hope to hear from you soon. Don't wait.
