Who are we?
The Rotary Club of Jakarta was chartered in July 1988 - over 20 years ago. We have an interesting mix of club members and honorary members from 7 countries (Indonesia, Australia, U.S.A., Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, and Portugal). We are brought together by a common community focus.

As Rotarians in Indonesia, we have a unique perspective "from the trenches". We see where Rotary's international project monies are going. We work side by side with the project that we support - sometimes in the mangroves - planting trees, sometimes in the fringe areas of the city - teaching street kids, sometimes marching down the main thoroughfare of Jakarta on "demonstration Sundays" - to raise awareness of a greener, cleaner Jakarta.

What is Rotary?
Rotary is a global network of community volunteers. Rotary members are business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

PolioPlus is Rotary’s flagship program. By 2005, Rotary club members had contributed approximately US$600 million and countless volunteer hours to help immunize over 2 billion children against polio.  

Rotary has 31,000+ clubs in 168 countries and regions. The Rotary Club of Jakarta Selatan is one of over 100 Rotary Clubs in Indonesia. Like all clubs we have our challenges with keeping membership up; but we are a passionate group of 24 members, making a small difference in the city we live in.
